Why do people make a heart shape with their hands what does it mean or stand for I've seen a lot of young kids doing it?

I can't stand people who make heart shapes with their hands. I don't know why they do it....but it is very annoying. I guess it's sort of "sign language" that they love the person they are directing the "heart shape" towards.
