He was a true revolutionary. He had read john Locke and others of his time that wrote about man's ability to chose a government and decide his fate. He truly believed this. This thinking was against the Crown. The Crown considered that it was appointed by God to rule over a nation. Jefferson wanted a world revolution against this type of thinking and rule. He considered it against the "God given rights of man."
