What is the Elevation of Highlands NJ?

At it's highest point, the Highlands are 266 ft in elevation. (The peak is technically a few yards over the western boarder of the Borough of Highlands in the adjacent town of Atlantic Highlands.) At the Eastern end of the ridge, where the famed Navesink Twin Lights sit, the elevation is approximately 183 ft (the lighthouse beacons are at 246 ft elevation). The "lower town" of the Borough of Highlands (the part of the town that runs N/NE of Shore Drive) is a 13 ft elevation according to the USGS.

Differences in home prices and insurance costs between houses on the ridge in the "upper town" and those below in the "lower town" reflect the steep change in elevation, which impacts views and flood risk.
