It's not lethal if all the safety precautions are taken care of. That's why Radiology technicians put a lead blanket on you sometimes, and they go stand in another room, or behind a barrier, or w/e, while an X-ray is in progress.
Over exposure to X-rays, or any form radiation, can cause SERIOUS health problems, that if left untreated, may become lethal.
X-rays are just something you want to try to avoid as much as possible, however you'd have to sit under the X-ray beam for a while to see immediate results (which I do not advise :p)
