When one of the numbers is 0, you must count it to the numbers of data. For example,

1, 0, 3, and 8. To find the average, or the mean, add the four numbers together and divide their sum by 4.

(1 + 0 + 3 + 8)/4= 12/4 = 3

The average is 3.
