How does the regions physical geography affect its climates and biomes?

The geography of the region is mostly mountainous or uninhabitable deserts and plateaus. The high mountains create an orographic effect in some regions that creates favorable conditions for farming as do the two major rivers in the region. The lowland areas are among the hottest, and little can grow or live there.
