When is international pancake day celebrated?

Traditionally it is "Shrove Tuesday", that is the day before "Ash Wednesday", The first day of "Lent", which is 40 something days before Easter.
Because Lent was traditionally a time of Fasting, people used up the rest of their eggs, flour and sweetstuffs to make pancakes.
