What does it mean if in the ultra sound all is seen is the sac?

If she is over 6 weeks pregnant an the only thing seen is the sac there is a possibility of a blighted ovum...which is what i had where the baby does not develop, the cause of that is many reasons but the womens body reacts like a normal pregnancy until she miscarries around the end of the first trimester.
