How long does it take to frisk?

It depends on how cautious the officer is. A normal quick frisk or pat down of a suspect will take about 30 seconds. This enables an officer to feel any object that may be used as a weapon. A more thorough search for contraband items can take two or three minutes as pockets need be checked and contents identified.
