Why are the witches important?

This is a left-over symbol from midevial superstitious Propaganda. Halloween happens to fall on a very important Pagan Holiday, Samhain (pronounced Sow, as in Cow, -en.) Some theorize that the secular holiday of Haloween derived from the Pagan customs.
