What was the economy like in Germany in the 1920s?

Had important textile, food processing, shipbuilding and was (with UK and US) major world supplier of industrial machinery and coal. Also had significant agricultural, shipping and banking industries and major R & D nation (x rays, aspirin, nitrogen fixation, diesel engine, sulphides and quantum theory)
