he/she is going to a better place just be strong - 2nd answer: If they tell you the're going to a funeral, they either need support, attention, or they're just making small talk & informing you. If they don't say who the funeral is for, you can sympathetically say, "Aw, who is it for?" and maybe follow up with, "Well, I'm sorry :-/ ." If you know they were close, they might need a hug (depending on the person) and you can say you're sorry during the hug. If you're a guy & this is relationship thing, don't take the physical affection to a sexual level, because this COULD disrespect the other person's feelings & show that you don't care for their feelings.
