When did Louis XIV reign?

Louis XIV (5 September 1638 - 1 September 1715) ruled as King of France and of Navarre. He ascended the throne a few months before his fifth birthday. Louis remained on the throne until his death in September 1715, four days before his seventy-seventh birthday.

His reign lasted seventy-two years, three months, and eighteen days, the longest documented for any European monarch to date.
