What is a pigon chest?

Pigeon chest, or pectus carinatum, is a deformity characterized by a protrusion of the sternum and rib cage, giving the chest a bird-like appearance. It can be caused by abnormal growth of the cartilage connecting the ribs to the sternum and may develop during childhood or adolescence. While it is often a cosmetic concern, severe cases can lead to respiratory issues or discomfort. Treatment options include bracing or, in more severe cases, surgical intervention.
