How does acid rain help form a canyon?

Acid rain is derived from sulfuric acid which can help corrode rock. Acid rain would only be one tiny part of creating a canyon. For example, the Grand Canyon was carved from the weathering of wind and the corrosion of water (believe it or not it used to be just a river).
