C. African Americans relocated from the rural South to urban areas in the North and West in search of better economic opportunities, escaping Jim Crow laws and racial violence. This mass movement, known as the Great Migration, occurred primarily during the early to mid-20th century and significantly impacted Demographics and cultural landscapes in the United States. While Northern areas offered more opportunities, they were not entirely free from racial conflict.
