The period of the agricultural and industrial revolutions saw rapid
population growth throughout Great Britain, but particularly in
England and Wales. Improved farming methods appear to have been one
cause of the population explosion that occurred between 1750 and
1850. The increase in population provided a ready workforce for
newly industrialised factory production.
