What is a good type of wood to use for building a deck?

Treated lumber. The best top decking is composite or vinyl. It is very expensive,

but in the long run you save on stain, sealer, time on maintenance.

They last almost forever and take a lot of abuse. Only have to clean when it gets dirty.

Just don't use trex, verenda, has a problem with mold growing on it.
