How is the internet different now than it was when it was first invented?

The internet was just a blannk dark screen much like the screen looks like when you have to do a c: prompt in your program without an operating system. That was prior to 1996, In 1996 b it began to look alot like a Word document with some graphics on it. If you would like to see the way it looked prior to 1996 then go to the dos prompt on your computer and that is what it looked like.
