How do you mark the stress in the word politics?

Many times people will mark stressed syllables by separating the syllables with dashes and capitalizing the letters of the stressed syllable. In the case of "politics," you would write "POL-i-tics."

This is an informal method that gets the point across. Be aware that there may be a more academic method that is considered proper.
