Can you use lactaid tablets that have gone past expiration date?

I drank mine the other day and it was almost a week after and i am drinking it again now, I would say as long as it smells fine it probably is fine. People are so dramatic sometimes, you most likely will not die from it and if it is just a day or so after it should be more than fine but def smell it first.
