What are the different kinds of gardening tools and their meaning?

There are several types of gardening tools.

Cultivation tools:

The spade is the most used tool, to dig and turn the soil over.

A garden fork does the same as the spade and is preferred when the soil is light.

A cultivator can break down large clods of compacted soil.

Hoes of different shapes are used to weed between the rows and around the plants. It can also break down the crust that may form on top of the soil, allowing more moisture to penetrate during the night.

The rake finishes the soil surface, making it ready for planting. It can also be used to tap the soil over the ranks of seed, to reduce air pockets and seed rot.

A chalk string, the laser of old, can be used to draw straight lines for planting.

Shears are used to trim hedges and landscape brushes or small trees.

Secateurs and pruners are small shears to prune trees or harvest grapes.

The wheelbarrow is useful to transport tools and the harvest from the garden.

The watering can has been replaced by plastic hosethat can reach everywhere.
