Why do windowscreen wiper on the drivers side have a spoiler?

The spoilers on wiper blades are designed to create down-pressure on the wiper blade. Many conventional wipers can tend to lift up off the glass at higher speeds which decreases their performance. The spoiler actually uses the wind to increase performance.
