If you and your ex left on good terms then it would fine to go to the funeral and sit near the back of the church just to show your respect. It would be wise not to attend a tea or other function after the funeral because of his former wife as it could make things very uncomfortable. If you both had custody of any children then it would be fine to go to both functions. If you are uncomfortable with any of this then simply send flowers and a sympathy card.
