How do you reduce degradation of environment by industrialization?

Industrialization requires huge land space which is not available in urban areas. This necessitates massive felling of trees in the forest area, to facilitate industries to come up. With barren forest land, seasonal rains become irregular (sometimes it invites flood, while draught become the feature in the affected region).Further, the poisonous gases emitted from the factories affects the atmosphere,even hole i ozone layer has been reported .The entire ecosystem of the universe is in grave danger as a result of massive industralization.
