47 Canadian nurses died from disease, hospital ship sinking, bombings. According to Collections Canada 3,141 women enlisted as nurses.

14 Nursing Sisters were aboard the Canadian hospital ship Llandovery Castle when it was sunk in June of 1918. The U-boat that torpedoed the ship surfaced also sunk all but one lifeboat and shot many of the survivors. Out of 234 aboard the ship, only 24 survived.

6 Nursing Sisters died as a result of their hospital being bombed. 15 are known to have died of disease.

A good website "Finding the Forty-Seven" is tracking down how and when the nurses died.
