It takes time, but you need to trim the plant. Locate the main stem on the trunk, and trim the top off of it. In a few weeks, the plant will branch new stems below the cut. Watch the plant for signs of shock, and continue to feed it will an indoor fertilizer. Trimming will encourage new growth, and proper care will make the plant healthy.
