What is the meaning of release your inhibitions?

It means to let go of the things that hold you back from saying and doing what you would naturally do if you weren't thinking about the repercussions of it. For example people who drink alcohol are said to release their inhibitions because the alcohol stops them from being constrained by what their conscious thought tells them they should and should not do or say.
