NOTE: I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY. THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE. FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY... Not directly. The car was not used as security for the loan. It might be possible, through some legal action, to get a judgment against your assets, but unless the amount owed is large, and the car or some other asset is particularly valuable, it wouldn't be worthwhile. So, far as I know, this threat is mostly intimidation, but not altogether idle. And I don't mean to say by this that you shouldn't find some way to work out paying a legitimate debt.
