destiny is not made up but it is not always about two people in love. it could be "your destiny to be in the Olympics" or something. ---- It is certainly possible for two people to feel that way. It is natural for members of our species to seek reasons for things and look for patterns. And it is very common for people who are strongly attracted to one another to feel that there is a certain rightness and even inevitability to their finding one another. I would not devalue the sincerity of the emotion one bit, but I would recognize it as an emotion. What do you suppose a researcher would learn if he or she studied a thousand couples who had that feeling and then tracked whether their relationships lasted? Do you think that a few or perhaps even many couples who later broke up might have had a similar feeling in the beginning? I am not sure what kind of destiny changes its mind. Which do you think is more likely, that people have a feeling about destiny and being "meant to be" as part of the emotional experience that occurs when they are deeply attracted to someone or that some infinite cosmic personality or impersonality busies itself by engineering individual pathways so that natural partners will stay separate all their lives and then suddenly meet? You can believe what you like, but as for me, I would not attempt to base any conclusions about reality on a subjective experience of this kind.
