Why did Mae jamison want to be an astronaut?

Mae Jemison wanted to be an astronaut to pursue her lifelong dream of space exploration and to break barriers for women, particularly women of color, in science and technology. Inspired by her interest in science and her desire to make a difference, she aimed to inspire future generations and demonstrate that anyone can achieve their goals regardless of their background. Her passion for science, coupled with her commitment to social change, motivated her to join NASA and become the first African American woman in space.
