Is it impolite for people to ask how much someones purse nice jewelry etc cost and if they are real or fake?

For some people asking how much someones purse or jewelrys price is offensive those are probably the fakes but i think for the people who paid some good money for what they own and they know it real are kinda proud to say how much their precious item is it may be impolite it just depends on the people!
