This all depends: What is the make, model, and year of the vehicle? Are there any other drivers on this policy? How long have they been licensed? Male or female? Have they received any citations before?
In Ontario, the rate is extremely expensive. If the 16 year-old is listed as the principle driver, for a 2005 Toyota Corolla, and has had no previous accidents, tickets etc. expect to pay upwards of $6500/year. If you are looking for an older car, like a 1990 Toyota Corolla, expect to pay upwards of $3000/ year....
all in all, it is very expensive, for a 16 year old to own his/her own car....if you can, stick to being an occasional driver, you will expect to pay about $300 /year, or less
